Kirlian photography has a well-established diagnostic purpose in the field of alternative and Eastern medicine. The images produced have a profound effect on the ability to heal. Let's take a look at what Kirlian photography is and how it can be used to heal.

What is Kirlian Photography?

Discovered accidentally by Semyon Kirlian in 1939, Kirlian learned that when an object was placed on a photographic plate and connected to an electrical source a radiant image created by an electrical field around the edges of the object, showed up.

Kirlian photography is also known as electrography, electro photography, and corona discharge photography due to the connection between electricity and the images. One common Kirlian experiment is to tear a leaf in half and take a Kirlian image. The resulting image will be the surrounding electrical field of the full leaf. The theory behind it is that the leaf leaves an energy field behind and the electrical current adheres to the residual energy producing the image.

The image captured on film is the energy of the 'life force' possessed by every living thing, and is the basis of practicing Kirlian photography.

Healing With Kirlian Photography

Many common eastern medicine traditions including Reiki and acupuncture are based on energy fields in the body. Kirlian photography, because it gives a practitioner the ability to visualize these energy fields, is a useful diagnosis and evaluative tool.

Acupuncturists can, for example, take an image of a person during an initial evaluation and see specifically where their energy is out of balance. It isn't a replacement for an acupuncturist's traditional diagnostic skills but rather a supplement and a way for them to demonstrate their assessment to a patient visually.

Scientists and practitioners also theorize that Kirlian photography has a role in detecting cancer and other devastating diseases. For example, plants with cancer show up with a very vivid corona or electrical field than healthy plants - this is due to the high metabolic rate of cancerous cells.

Kirlian photography may also be a possibility within the treatment of psychiatric care patients. With the ability to present signs of the patient's emotional state while being photographed, people in a relaxed state tend to show results in the blue-white corona, while any state of anxiety or stress tend to exhibit a superimposition of red which can possibly dissolve the coronal boundary. This information is based on the numerous tests conducted by Dr. Thelma Moss of UCLA during the 1970s.

Even with its skeptics, Kirlian photography also has a strong foundation within the scientific and healing communities. This 'accidental' discovery has been used to improve the lives of patients all over the world. Hopefully it will become used and embraced by traditional medical practitioners for the diagnosis and treatment of debilitating diseases in the near future. Stress Coping Skills

Stress is all around us. We encounter it at work, in our families and in our social lives. You can not run and hide from it. You must learn to face it head on and deal with it productively so it does not cause adverse conditions in your body, mind and soul. Here are some tips to combat stress.

Stress is something we will all have to deal with from time to time. We need to recognize that it is not avoidable and we must cope in a positive manner. We need to identify how we deal with it and make needed changes. We need to use the energy it takes to stress out on something worth while and learn to relax.

Avoid stress talk. Many people like to constantly talk about their stress with friends and coworkers. This is not a good coping technique. It only causes more self talk and stress. This kind of self talk can be destructive. Avoid situations or conversations that may lead to doom and gloom talk.

This brings us to stress thoughts or mind garbage as I like to refer to it. We can put so much energy into the should a, could a, would a theory's. We can manipulate our minds to think things are worse then they are. Cut these thoughts off as soon as they start. They are usually unfounded thoughts anyways.

Learn from others. We all know people that have dealt with stress. Many times they have had stress that we could not imagine living through. Put yourself in their shoes. Look at how they coped and how they survived. Let them be a positive influence on you.

Many people love the breathing technique. It is simple and is a great way to calm yourself when stress gets you anxious and excited. All you need to do is take lond steady deep breathes, inhaling and exhaling. Once you start to feel relaxed and calm you can breath normal.

Identify our stress triggers. Identify how we currently deal with them. find ways to improve the way we deal with them. We may need to try many techniques before finding one that works for us. Make note of this information and find positive de-stressors that work for us.

Last but not least, take care of yourself. Be sure to get plenty of sleep and rest. Eat healthy foods and get some exercise. Enjoy lives little pleasures, so often we ignore them. Stop to smell the roses. Be good to your body and yourself and your body will thank you for it! - 18304

When someone says "drug addiction", what do you think of? Most would say alcohol, cigarettes or cocaine.

But what about addictions to other substances that are not harmful to your mind or body when taken properly? I am talking about prescription drugs.

Hospitals around the globe prescribe drugs to help patients with pain relief and many other problems.

Prescription drugs are created to solve problems and help people. But they are just as harmful as other drugs if they are used improperly and just as addictive.

Prescription drugs are made to help so they create a mental trap for people. They don't think they are dangerous.

Cocaine is broadcast world wide as a potentially fatal drug, so most people stay far away from it.But you are less intimidated by the pain killer your family doctor gives you. This makes it far easier to abuse.

A person addicted to prescription drugs is also far less likely to see that they have a problem because their doctor gave it to them. This means it is harder to kick the addiction.

People may not see how dangerous they are, but often people die when abusing prescription drugs for the very first time.
